Did you guys notice how last year, I stopped posting podcast episodes around mid-Spring, and didn’t start back up again until late August/early September? And did you guys notice that I pretty much did the same exact thing this year? Weird, ain’t it? Well, I’ll try to make up for it with three days of episodes in a row. Tomorrow’s episode — yes, I’ll be posting an episode tomorrow AND Saturday — will be all about our experiences with Toonami, but today’s episode is a little look at the Marvel and DC Comics animation blocks, back when they first premiered. Well, it ends up being more so a look at the shows we love (Young Justice) and the shows we hate (Ultimate Spider-Man), but…well, the interstitial bits aren’t huge conversation makers like Toonami’s. Not counting DC Nation shorts, which are bloody awesome, and are kinda like backdoor pilots that can be picked up for full series. New Teen Titans is making the jump, and I’m glad about it, even though the show will be a pure comedy with…wait, what? Okay, a little less happy now. In any case, after this week of backlog episodes, we’ll be officially back with FRESH CONTENT. Fresh like clean towels right out of the dryer. Podcasts! Articles! Who the hell knows what else!? See ya tomorrow, and sorry for the episode’s sudden end.

Hey guys, today I got a very special email from Turner Broadcasting about this year’s Cartoon Network upfront: now what you are about to see is the official thing from them. Check back soon, because all of our thoughts on the upfront will be revealed soon on Not Another Old Cartoon Podcast! But for now just ooh and ahh over the exciting announcements!

Not too long ago I stumbled upon an interesting show on The History Channel called Life After People. It used scientific findings to predict what life “after people” would be like for planet earth. Well I don’t have any scientific findings here but I thought I’d apply their gimmick to a post mortem timeline for the late great Toonami block. It’s been over 2 years and much has changed. In fact, so much has changed that a lot of people probably did not even notice everything that has happened since Toonami was taken off the air. Action animation and anime have found new venues and are now more available to viewers than ever before. So without further ado I present to you, life after Toonami.

In the pilot episode of Cartoon Network’s popular series Codename: Kids Next Door, the KND crew catch wind of an extended adult swim time and proceed to free the pool of it’s dictators in order to restore the natural order of the pool. How ironic that in 2011 Cartoon Network will tell the kids to get out of the pool as early as 9PM eastern and pacific time and 8PM in central and mountain time zones. Their highly successful adult targeted segment Adult Swim will expand another hour into Cartoon Network’s precious prime time hours. Where are the Kids Next Door when you need them?
