In this episode we pay tribute to the late great Robotomy. I meant to get this episode up before the last episode aired on Cartoon Network but unfortunately I was not able to do that. This episode was recorded a few weeks ago so the news is a bit out-dated but if you haven’t heard it yet then it’s still news to you. We’d like to thank Tomato Surprise for joining us this episode and we hope to have him back soon. Thanks for sticking with us, we’re still working some kinks out. None the less we hope you enjoy this week’s episode of Not Another Old Cartoon Podcast

After weeks in the works we are proud to introduce you to Not Another Old Cartoon Podcast, the podcast about new and current cartoons because after all there’s enough podcasts caught up in the “good ‘ol days” of animation. Every week I’ll be joined by my co-host Dragon Piece along my good buddy and the host of Anime Abomination, Don East. In fact we’ll be joined by a different guest often if not every week. Kind of like Batman: The Brave and the Bold which happens to be our first animated series showcase. We’ll also present you with some recent animation related news and probably get off topic more than a few times. We hope you enjoy the first episode of Not Another Old Cartoon Podcast

I contemplated making a top 5 or top 10 for the year but I felt like I wouldn’t be giving some shows their due if I just did that so rather than make a list I decided to give a micro-review and some personal thoughts on the cartoons of 2010 that I was able to catch. For the record, I did not include any direct sequels such as Ben 10: Ultimate Alien or Total Drama: World Tour. Follow the jump to see what I thought about the new cartoons that premiered in 2010.

I’m a New Yorker at heart: I love this crazy city with its beat-boxing subway conductors, parks to make-up for the large amount of concrete, and unusual amount of stray cats. But I’m also an animation lover, and beyond a crap-load of independent films, this large city has a small voice in the animation community. Very few animated series and films are produced in NYC, so whenever I hear that a new animation project is underway in the Big Apple, I become ecstatic and try to do all I can to help promote it. That is part of the reason for the following interview.

You may know of  Michael Buckley for his bestselling children books — he’s the creator of the book series The Sisters Grimm and N.E.R.D.S. But he is also the co-creator of the upcoming Cartoon Network series Robotomy, which is about two teenage robots (Thrasher and Blastus) who attend high school on the ultra-violent planet of Insanus. Directed by Christy Karacas, co-creator of the hit [adult swim] series Superjail!, Robotomy is being produced at New York’s own World Leaders Entertainment. In response to an amazing trailer (above) and the lack of network promotion, I decided to sit down with Mr. Buckley and discover just what makes this show tick. Interview after the jump.
