I contemplated making a top 5 or top 10 for the year but I felt like I wouldn’t be giving some shows their due if I just did that so rather than make a list I decided to give a micro-review and some personal thoughts on the cartoons of 2010 that I was able to catch. For the record, I did not include any direct sequels such as Ben 10: Ultimate Alien or Total Drama: World Tour. Follow the jump to see what I thought about the new cartoons that premiered in 2010.

where Art meets application!

When thinking about the internet, the first things to come to mind are usually social networking sites. From instant messaging on AIM to long, faux-philosophical status updates on Facebook, to even the silliest of 140-character messages on Twitter, the internet has become a place for the sharing of information. But along with the sharing of information comes the sharing of some of the more bizarre information and ideas in the world. I doubt anyone knew that there are people that get aroused by anthropomorphic animals before the internet became mainstream. Nor that everything and anything can and will be porn whether you like it or not, and at least a thousand people could be getting off on it at this very moment. But we’re not here today to talk about the dirty, naughty side of the internet. We’re here to talk about the artsy side of the world wide web, which also happens to encompass some incredibly disturbing stuff. As is the norm, more after the jump.

I don’t need to tell you that Cartoon Network has gone through a lot of changes in its short history as a network. From only showing classic animation in the early 90s, to creating original animated programming beginning 1995, to even the embracing of live-action in the mid-2000s: Toon has been through quite a bit. But if one thing has stayed constant, it is the channel’s inability to surpass their fellow networks in the ratings. No matter how original the concept, no matter how funny or action-packed one of their shows might be, and no matter the timeslot, Cartoon Network is rarely able to catch more than a second’s worth of glory. Time to take a look at the reasons why.

There have been countless fantastic cartoons that for whatever reason did not last more than a season or two. Here’s a discussion of my top 5 of all-time or at least in recent memory. I’ll talk about what I loved about them and give some insight as to why they may have been cancelled along with giving you folks some recommendations for other shows to check out as well as how you can continue to enjoy these great cartoons now. Keep in mind these are my personal preferences and nothing more. So here’s my top 5 great cartoons cancelled before their time. Only the good die young as they say.
